Xpeng is offering five-day extended test drives at participating locations, allowing prospective buyers to live with the G6 and sample its range, charging performance and driver-assistance tech before committing. Bookings are available via the brand’s Australian website.
The G6 is a rear-wheel-drive mid-size electric SUV offered in Standard Range and Long Range variants, with either 190kW of power and a 66kWh battery or a 210kW electric motor and an 87.5kWh battery.
Claimed WLTP range is 435km for the Standard Range and 570km for the Long Range, with DC fast charging at up to 215kW and 280kW respectively and a claimed 10 to 80 per cent charge time of 20 minutes.
Xpeng is a Chinese electric vehicle brand that builds only EVs, founded in Guangzhou in 2014 and now expanding into markets including Australia.
The brand now has 18 experience centre and test drive locations open across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and Tasmania, including sites such as Crown Sydney, Mascot, Parramatta and Coburg North.

A further eight sites are listed as “coming soon”, with new locations planned for Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin, and multiple sites in metropolitan Melbourne and Perth.
The G6 is one of the more affordable mid-size electric SUVs on the market, sitting between budget-focused Chinese newcomers and established rivals like the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
An updated version, which is already on sale in other markets, has been approved for sale in Australia with more power and tweaked styling.
Although the number of electric vehicles on the Australian market continues to increase, the sales share of the new car market still remains relatively low, and a number of Chinese EV brands are competing hard on price and value to grow market share.
TrueEV doesn’t report Xpeng sales figures in monthly VFACTS industry sales reports, so it’s unclear just how many G6s have been delivered since the brand’s launch last year. Thus far, the G6 is the brand’s only product in Australia.
