- BMW has unveiled the 325iS and 333i Homage Editions in South Africa.
- Both models honor the original icons, based on the M240i and M2.
- The limited editions will be sold through an exclusive charity auction.
The BMW 2-Series is essentially a modern day E30 and the German carmaker is acknowledging that with a pair of special editions. Each pays tribute to South Africa’s performance heritage, though only 33 examples of each will be built. And yes, they’re exclusive to that market.

That’s a bummer, but the 325iS Homage is based on the M240i xDrive and features dual rear spoilers as well as 20-inch M Performance wheels with a retro-inspired design.
The coupe also sports a front splitter and contrasting black door handles that echo those found on the original car. They’re joined by the M Sport Pro package as well as an M Performance exhaust.

The upgrades continue inside as drivers will find M Sport seats with contrast stitching. They’re joined by an awesome armrest wrapped in Überkaro tartan upholstery, the same pattern featured in several sporty E30 models such as the 318iS, 320iS, and, of course, the 325iS.
Last but not least, there’s a commemorative plaque that says “Born for the track” and “Specially crafted for South Africa.”
Power is provided by a familiar 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that produces 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. It enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds.
An M2-Based Tribute

adpushup.que.push(function() {

}
});
The 333i Homage is more extreme as it builds on the M2 and features retro-inspired graphics as well as 20-inch wheels from Alpina. They’re joined by a carbon fiber splitter and spoiler as well as a four-tailpipe M Performance exhaust. Customers can also choose from five colors including Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Brooklyn Grey, Zandvoort Blue, and Fire Red.
The interior echoes the 325iS Homage as it has the same armrest as well as a slightly different plaque. However, the 333i goes a step further as it adds carbon fiber bucket seats.
More importantly, there’s a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine with 473 hp (353 kW / 480 PS) and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. This enables the rear-wheel drive sports car to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in four seconds flat.
A Tribute In More Ways Than One

}
});
The cars honor the original 325iS and 333i, which are billed as “products of BMW South Africa’s unique autonomy in the 1980s and 1990s, a period when local engineers operated with a near skunkworks-like spirit.”
The 325iS was conceived to meet Group N racing regulations, while the 333i was created to fill the gap left by the absence of the first-generation M3, which wasn’t offered in South Africa.
Offered Via Auction
The cars will be offered as part of an auction and interested buyers can register now. Proceeds will benefit one of five charities, selected by the bidder, and winners have to promise not to sell or transfer the vehicle to someone else for at least one year.
The auction starts on October 21 and bidding starts at R1,435,000 ($83,413) for the 325iS Homage and R1,960,000 ($113,930) for the 333i Homage.
