There’s No Dodging Price Hikes On The 2026 Tonale Facelift

  • The refreshed Alfa Romeo Tonale debuts in the U.S. at the LA Show.
  • Updates include a new grille, bumper, and expanded color options.
  • U.S. models drop the PHEV setup for a 268 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine.

Alfa Romeo introduced the facelifted Tonale last month and the crossover will celebrate its North American unveiling at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It will be joined by the 33 Stradale, which is also making its North American auto show debut.

While we’ve already seen the Tonale, the company announced pricing will begin at $36,995 before a $3,250 destination fee. That’s $500 more than its predecessor and this raises the cost of entry to $40,245.

In return, customers will find a new grille and a sportier front bumper. They’re joined by an expanded color palette – that now includes Giallo Ocra, Rosso Brera, and Verde Monza – as well as a newly available contrasting black roof for $95. Buyers will also find an updated interior with “elevated materials, colors and finishes.”

Alfa Romeo hasn’t released full details, but the entry-level Sprint features LED lighting units, gloss black accents, and 18-inch wheels. They’re joined by aluminum pedals and fabric seats with contrast stitching.

That’s not exactly luxurious, but a $1,995 Premium Package adds ventilated leather front seats, an ambient lighting system, and a hands-free power liftgate.

The mid-level Tonale Veloce begins at $41,495 and features larger 19-inch wheels that are backed up by red Brembo brake calipers. The model also has a dual mode suspension, a hands-free power liftgate, aluminum paddle shifters, and perforated leather seats.

The Tonale Sport Speciale also begins at $41,495, but it goes in a slightly different direction. Focused on style, the variant is distinguished by silver accents, gloss black Brembo brake calipers, and 20-inch wheels with a three-hole design.

Inside, there are exclusive black-and-pearl perforated Alcantara seats with white contrast stitching. The model also has an Alcantara-wrapped dashboard and “exclusive ambient lighting signatures.”

All three trims offer an assortment of options including a $1,500 moonroof, a $750 Harmon Kardon premium audio system, and a $1,250 Active Assist Package. The latter includes Active Driving Assist, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a surround view camera system, and ParkSense park assist.

While most of the updates are minor, Alfa Romeo decided to ditch the crossover’s plug-in hybrid system. As a result, all US-spec Tonales are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.

The 33 Stradale needs no introduction as it debuted in 2023 and is hand-built by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. Drawing inspiration from the 1967 Tipo 33 Stradale, the car features dihedral doors as well as a carbon fiber monocoque.

Power is provided by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS). It’s connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels via an electronic limited-slip differential. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than three seconds and hit a top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h).
