JAC iEV A50 Chinese Sedan Debuts With 500Km Claimed Range

According to AutoHome, the iEV A50 is coming to the 2018 Beijing Auto Show in April, measuring about as much as a four-door Renault Megane, at 4,590mm (180.7in) long, 1,765mm (69.5in) wide, and 1,490mm (58.7in) tall, with a 2,710mm (106.7in) wheelbase.

However, its size and styling aren’t the wow factor here, because according to the manufacturer, it has a claimed range of up to 500km (311miles), in between charges, when equipped with a 60kWh Li-ion battery pack. It’s estimated that it could reach some 400km (249miles) in the real world, whereas a lesser version, which uses a 47kWh battery pack, will travel for about 330km (205miles) on a single charge.

Located under the rear bench, the battery, which features a fast-charging mode that requires plugging it in for 1.5 hours to charge it from 0 to 80 percent, provides the juice to an electric motor, mounted at the front. The unit is good for 150 horsepower, and is said to allow the car to reach a maximum top speed of 150km/h (93mph).

Otherwise, the exterior design is dull, and so is the cabin, which features a Tesla-wannabe vertical touchscreen, 10.4 inches in size. The gear selector seems to have been inspired by BMW, and the steering wheel appears to come from Chevys. The 360-degree camera system, keyless entry and go, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, various blue accents and aluminum trim, as well as leather seats, are among its features.
