Integration of one’s personal device into their commute is something none of us would’ve imagined a decade or two ago. Today, it’s completely commonplace, and Google just made it a bit better.

A new update for Android Auto adds both Call Screening and Call Notes. Both promise to make life behind the wheel a touch easier. The standout addition is the former, though. It leverages Pixel phones to handle unknown or unwanted calls before they even reach the speakers.

Filtering Calls Before They Reach You

When someone dials in, users can have the phone ask who they are and why they’re calling. The response will pop up on the infotainment system. From there, owners can decide to pick up, ask more questions, provide a response, or decline the call.

The second feature, Call Notes, acts almost like an assistant listening into the call as it goes along. Rolled out with the Pixel 9 series, the tool generates a text summary of the conversation.

From there, users can review key details. It’ll save drivers from having to try to jot down notes or remember key information while behind the wheel.

Google’s move follows Apple’s lead, as iOS 26 introduced similar call screening for CarPlay. Both ecosystems now tackle distracting phone calls, and that’s a benefit for drivers (and other motorists) everywhere.

Android Auto Keeps Growing

Android Auto has steadily evolved from a very simple mirroring application into a robust driver’s assistant, and features like these push it further into the ‘very desirable’ category. If they work as smoothly in the car as they do on the handheld devices, they could become everyday essential tools for those who commute regularly.

Are you looking forward to using features like these, or are you still pining for something else from Android Auto or Apple CarPlay? Sound off in the comments!
