  • Cupra has introduced the new Leon VZ and VZ TCR.
  • Both feature a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 321 hp.
  • VZ TCR features removeable rear seats to save weight.

Do you like the Volkswagen Golf R, but wish it had front-wheel drive and a ridiculous name? If so, you’re in luck as Cupra has introduced the new Leon VZ TCR.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106-c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”);
} else {

}
});

Billed as the “most powerful front-wheel drive Leon ever,” the limited edition hatchback pays tribute to the similarly named race car and features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 321 hp (239 kW / 325 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque.

It’s connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.6 seconds. The car also has an “unrestricted top speed,” but the company declined to say how fast it can go.

The racing pedigree is recognizable from a distance thanks to a front splitter, unique side skirts, and a rear wing. They’re joined by a copper-colored four-tailpipe exhaust system and special lightweight wheels that are wrapped in performance tires.

Buyers will also find body side graphics, carbon fiber mirror caps, and a dark chrome Cupra badge below the hood. It’s joined by a VZ TCR badge on the liftgate.

Production will be limited to 499 units and the car will be launched late next year.

If the TCR variant sounds like overkill, you can get a more mainstream Leon VZ. Cupra didn’t say much about it, but it features the same engine as the Leon VZ TCR and appears to eschew some of the more extreme upgrades.

This version will be limited to 1,500 units and it will arrive in the first quarter of 2026.
