MG 4 EV gets runout deals, but it’s still not as cheap as it once was

MG Motor Australia is offering runout savings on its most affordable electric hatchback, as it prepares to trim back the MG 4 lineup and introduce a new budget-friendly MG 4 Urban.

The base MG 4 Excite 51, which will be axed along with all MG 4 variants with 51kWh and 77kWh batteries, is now being offered for $37,990 drive-away, nationwide.

Per MG’s website, the deal reduces the drive-away price by between $365 and $2526.

All MG 4s sold before December 31, 2025 will also come with a 12-month/1000kWh voucher for the Evie charging network.

Premium paint remains a $700 option.

While the base MG 4’s pricing is sharper than before, it has been offered for much less.

The MG 4 was launched in Australia in 2023, priced from $38,990 before on-road costs.

During September and October 2024, MG was offering the MG 4 Excite 51 for just $30,990 drive-away. Simultaneously, MG was offering factory bonuses of between $5000 and $8000. These deals saw MG 4 sales soar by 97.9 per cent compared with the previous year.

The price was raised later in the year to $32,990 drive-away.

To the end of October this year, MG has delivered 2756 MG4s – down 47.6 per cent on the same period last year.
