2026 Audi Q5 adds 270kW PHEV with ICE price parity

Aud Australia has finally confirmed a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) of its new-generation Q5 SUV and Q5 Sportback, in addition to a new “TFSI quattro’ petrol variant with all-wheel drive.

Plugging a couple of gaps in the local lineup, the 2026 Audi Q5 range remains fully electrified with both 48V mild-hybrid ‘plus’ and plug-in hybrid ‘e-hybrid’ models available in both SUV and Sportback body styles.

The new Q5 e-hybrid quattro and TFSI quattro models will be priced the same, starting from $96,900 plus on-road costs for the SUV, and $100,400 for the coupe-styled Sportback. All four new variants are available to order now, ahead of first deliveries commencing in the first half of 2026.

Power in the Q5 e-hybrid quattro comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain, with the petrol motor developing 185kW and the electric motor adding 105kW on its own. Together, the Q5 PHEV develops 270kW/500Nm – which is about the same as the SQ5 performance hero – and quotes a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.1 seconds.

Being a PHEV however, efficiency is the main talking point. Audi quotes an electric driving range of around 80km per full charge, with combined fuel consumption rated at 2.6L/100km. CO2 emissions are quoted at 60g/km.

It’s worth noting the Q5 e-hybrid holds a significant price advantage against key rivals. The BMW X3 30e xDrive is nearly $8000 dearer (from $104,800), while the Mercedes-Benz GLC300e starts from $99,900 – all prices exclude on-road costs.

The Q5 TFSI quattro, meanwhile, uses the same 200kW/400Nm 2.0 TFSI turbo-petrol engine with all-wheel drive as the related A5 Sedan and Avant. Audi Australia says the all-paw petrol model will offer equivalent specification to the existing Q5 TDI quattro sport, which is priced from $94,100 before on-road costs.

Meanwhile, the Q5 e-hybrid adds some extra kit despite commanding no premium, including larger 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, sport suspension, red brake calipers, the black exterior styling package, rear privacy glass and auxiliary air conditioning – all augmenting the plug-in drivetrain’s extra performance and enhanced efficiency capabilities.
