The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have served as Jeep’s big statement pieces, full-size luxury SUVs that aim to combine American brawn with upscale comfort. Yet it seems the family tree is about to lose a branch.

Reports suggest the Wagoneer will be dropped altogether for the 2026 model year, although buyers hunting for something similar won’t be left stranded. The Grand Wagoneer lineup is expected to stretch downward, adding a few less wallet-bruising versions to fill the gap and keep the badge alive in spirit.

Dealers say that ever since Jeep introduced both the standard Wagoneer and the top-tier Grand Wagoneer, customers have been treating them almost interchangeably. Many shoppers either stretch their budget for the better-equipped Grand Wagoneer or bide their time for incentives on the Wagoneer.
Streamlining the Range
According to Mopar Insiders, several Jeep dealers in the US have confirmed that the Wagoneer’s days are numbered. Currently, the standard Wagoneer starts at $59,945 in short-wheelbase form or $62,945 for the extended model. The Grand Wagoneer, meanwhile, begins at $84,945 and is also offered in both lengths, clearly positioning it as the more premium option.
But Jeep isn’t only dropping the Wagoneer name. The Grand Wagoneer’s trim structure is also being overhauled. A recent filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office indicates that Jeep will replace the Series I, II, and III designations with names that align more closely with the rest of the lineup, such as Limited and Summit.

Model Year Updates
Updates for the 2026 model year are also on the way. Expect revised LED headlights paired with a new bumper design, while the rear will feature a sleek full-width LED light bar for a more modern look.

For the new model year, the Grand Wagoneer will continue to feature the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six Hurricane engine as standard. A Hemi-powered option may still be in the cards, though Jeep hasn’t confirmed details.
What is confirmed is the upcoming 4xe range-extended hybrid, which is set to pair a 3.6-liter V6 with two electric motors and a 92 kWh battery pack. Combined output is expected to reach 663 hp and 615 lb-ft (833 Nm) of torque.
