A Kia Stinger driver is now without his twin-turbocharged V6-powered liftback and his driver’s licence after allegedly speeding through a suburban area that was once home to one of Australia’s most well-known racetracks.
The 33-year-old driver was pulled over on Friday (September 19) for allegedly travelling at more than double the speed limit in his Stinger GT, according to the NSW Police Force’s Traffic and Highway Patrol Command Facebook page.
Camden Highway Patrol officers recorded the Stinger driver doing 126km/h in a 60km/h zone on Oran Park Drive.

He allegedly told officers upon being pulled over that he didn’t know the speed limit on the main road in and out of Oran Park, despite living in the suburb.
He also allegedly said he didn’t know his own speed, despite his car featuring both a speedometer and a head-up display.
His driver’s licence was suspended for six months, while his registration was cancelled for three months and his plates returned to Service NSW.
Oran Park is perhaps best known for the eponymous Oran Park Raceway, operational from 1962 until 2010. It hosted the Australian Grand Prix twice, in 1974 and 1977, and the first Australian Touring Car Championship in 1971.
The land on which the raceway sat was sold to the NSW Government for a new housing development, and the last race meeting was held there in 2010.
While the racetrack is gone, the names of the greats that competed on it – including Peter Brock and Allan Moffat – can be found on street signs in the suburb.
