Mercedes-Benz GLC EV to have 39.1-inch display in dashboard

The interior of the electric Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology has been revealed, and it will be available with a ginormous 39.1-inch ‘Hyperscreen’ slung across the dashboard.

Unlike the large displays seen on other Mercedes-Benz models, the GLC’s 39.1-inch behemoth is reportedly one screen, not two or three artfully tacked together.

The giant screen has a matrix backlight consisting of over 1000 LEDs. It also has two independent “intelligent” dimming zones, which can be adjusted via sliders. Presumably this allows the instrumentation and infotainment sections to be lit at different brightness levels. Mercedes-Benz says it has “filed a patent for this groundbreaking technology”.

Reports indicate the Hyperscreen will not be standard on the GLC EV, with lower-spec models featuring multiple smaller displays instead.

Dynamic ambient lighting is projected from the bottom of the Hyperscreen, which partially illuminates the large, flowing trim piece that links the dashboard with the centre console.

The console includes galvanised vents, wireless smartphone charging trays, large cupholders, and thin strip of physical buttons.
