According to the lawsuit, there’s an issue with the Idle Stop system used by several Honda and Acura models, possibly preventing owners from restarting their vehicles.
Originally, Honda was facing three class actions over the issue in the States, but these were later combined into one. It’s claimed that the start-stop system to save fuel when a vehicle is stopped, like at a traffic light, doesn’t always restart the vehicle and can leave owners stranded.
Which Vehicles Are Affected?
Vehicles involved in the lawsuit include the 2015-2020 Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2016-2021 Honda Pilot, 2019-2021 Honda Passport, and 2020-2021 Honda Ridgeline. A total of 20 plaintiffs will each receive $7,500 as part of the settlement. In addition, the lawyers representing these plaintiffs are set to receive $11.7 million.

In addition to these payouts, there’s a warranty extension. Honda has previously offered 10-year warranty extensions for free valve adjustments and free starter motor replacements, but only if a dealership had verified a problem with a vehicle’s Idle Stop system.
Now, all eligible vehicles can get a 10-year warranty extension for free valve adjustments and free starter motors if owners experience any issues. Importantly, this warranty extension covers only 10 years from the original lease or purchase date. Owners of 2015 model year vehicles now have 24 months to claim the warranty extension, while owners of 2016 models have 18 months to claim the added warranty.
Reimbursement for Past Repairs

}
});
Drivers who have already paid out of pocket for repairs related to this issue may qualify for reimbursement. This includes costs associated with starter motor or starter relay replacements, as well as valve adjustments.
