2026 Tesla Model Y price and specs

The facelifted Tesla Model Y launched here earlier this year, and now the popular mid-size electric SUV range is being joined by a flagship Performance grade.

First customer deliveries are scheduled for December, with pricing starting at $89,400 before on-road costs – still sliding under the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold despite being sourced from Europe (rather than China, as with all other Teslas sold in Australia) and therefore copping a five per cent import tariff.

Nevertheless, it’s pricier than before. The pre-facelift Performance was last offered for $82,900 before on-road costs, though the updated model brings a raft of enhancements including adaptive suspension and a new 16-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus new heated, ventilated and power-adjustable front sports seats with thigh extenders.

It also receives the enhancements made to the RWD and Long Range AWD, which continue to be sourced from China and which as part of the recent ‘Juniper’ facelift received revised front and rear styling, revised suspension and greater driving range.

They also received new heated and ventilated front seats and a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus heated and power-reclining seats, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the rear.

Thus far, Tesla hasn’t confirmed the stretched, three-row Model Y L for Australian release, which is also built in China. Tesla is also developing a stripped-out, more affordable version of the Model Y, though it has yet to reveal this.
