2026 Genesis G80 price and specs: 5 Series rival gets stealthy new Black edition

Genesis has detailed its petrol-powered G80 sedan lineup for 2026, which is now topped by a Black edition.

And unlike some models for which a black edition adds only a set of black wheels and maybe some black badges, Genesis has gone all-out to give its BMW 5 Series rival a comprehensive blackening, down to the switchgear.

The 2026 G80 lineup is available now, priced from an unchanged $104,200 before on-road costs for the base turbocharged four-cylinder petrol variant, now renamed the 2.5T Signature but featuring the same level of equipment as before.

The 3.5T Signature Sport is priced at $127,200, up $6200 on last model year’s 3.5T variant. However, it now includes the Sport Package as standard, which was previously a $6000 option.

The features in this Sport Package – which include rear-wheel steering and an electronic limited-slip rear differential – aren’t offered with the new G80 Black, which is reflected in its lower price tag of $125,200 before on-roads.

It’s no longer available with the rear-seat entertainment package, formerly a $4500 option that brought a pair of 14.6-inch displays in the rear with USB-C and HDMI outlets which can be used for streaming services. Genesis Australia says this option was deleted due to a low takeup rate of under five per cent.
